Q: Can my door be wood grained without special preparation?
A: Yes, the only preparation that may be needed is to strip the old paint before the wood grain process begins.
Q: How do I care for my door after it has been wood grained?
A: Just keep it clean. Steve includes instructions on how to care for your newly finished door. He’ll explain how and what to use.
Q: What do I use to recoat the door through the years?
A: Upon completion Steve will give you a list of products you can use and not to use.
Q: What do I use to make a touch-up if it gets scratched?
A: Steve will leave you a bottle of touch-up (exactly what he used) and explain how to use it if it should need repair.
Q: How long does it take Steve to wood grain the door.
A: The entire process takes four days. Not full days, since oil base products need time to dry.
Q: What if I can’t remember the instructions Steve tells me.
A: Steve gives each client a list of instructions of the “do’s and don’ts” of caring for you door/s. All your questions should be answered in the instructions.
Q: What if I’m not feeling confident about doing the future maintenance of my door?
A: Then you simply call Steve and he would be very happy to do it for you.
Q: How late in the season can my door be wood grained? Is the weather a factor during the finishing process?
A: During the fall and winter seasons Steve switches from latex to oil based products, so the cold days and nights will not be an issue. Steve also constructs a barrier to prevent the cold air from entering your home during the brief time the door is open while being worked on.
